AMD’s laptop CPU naming schemes are, I can say with some confidence, difficult to parse even for those of us that make it our mission in life to keep track of them. So much so, in fact, that the company has previously resorted to handing out a decoder wheel to help poor hardware writers like myself make sense of various model number changes and code name variations.

Now a product comparison page for Asus laptops may have briefly revealed the naming scheme for the upcoming Strix Point mobile processors, and it’s a doozy. First spotted by Twitter user harukaze5719, the page showed Asus’ Vivobook S 16 OLED line, each featuring a CPU named (drumroll, please): the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 170. Just rolls off the tongue that one, doesn’t it?

However, the page was updated today to show the same laptops instead featuring AMDs previous Hawk Point mobile chips, the also catchily named AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS and AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS. Since then the page appears to have broken for product comparisons, although the Vivobook S 16 laptops are still listed separately featuring the older Hawk Point CPUs.

Midnight Society co-founder Guy Beahm, better known as mustache-and-wraparounds streamer Dr Disrespect, announced today that the studio is slowing the pace of Deadrop “snapshot” build releases in favor of slower but more substantial updates through 2023.

“This ain’t year one anymore,” the good doctor said in today’s video. “A shift has occurred, and the expansion has begun. In 2023, it’s all about expanding on that foundation.

“Every snapshot will introduce significant new features and iterations to the game. But with expansion comes larger features and systems. This requires longer development cycles—that means snapshots will be less frequent, but much larger in scope. We’ll be spending nearly three months of development time on every new release. And with every drop comes major advancements in gameplay and expansion of the tower.”

First spotted by GamesRadar, Withers pulled out all the stops in Baldur’s Gate 3’s new post-game epilogue, calling in a favor with the Forgotten Realms’ god of music, Milil, to perform for you. Fans noticed an uncanny resemblance to Larian composer Borislav Slavov, and while the artist didn’t confirm it either way, it seems like a deliberate homage.

Slavov previously did the excellent soundtrack for Divinity: Original Sin 2, and his score for Baldur’s Gate 3 is up for best music at this year’s Game Awards. I didn’t clock the resemblance between Slavov and Milil right away, but seeing them side by side, that’s totally him, right? The steady drip-drip-drip of Stardew Valley 1.6 patch notes continued apace today as creator Eric Barone revealed yet another change coming to the game. This one is all about wedded bliss, which will now have a “honeymoon period” that will keep everyone happy about their nuptials—for a while, anyway.

Marriage in Stardew Valley brings practical benefits, as spouses can help with chores like watering crops, feeding livestock, and cooking meals. Helldivers 2 is going to make you link your PlayStation Network account—and boy, are liberty’s finest upset about it. If you dare to venture into the game’s Discord server at the time of writing, you’ll find the place is thoroughly on fire, with timeouts being issued left and right. 

As a recap in case you didn’t see the news earlier: Helldivers 2 will require you to link your Steam account to PlayStation Network starting May 6, though said requirement will roll out piecemeal. By May 30 Steam users will be confronted with a login screen, and by June 4 they’ll absolutely, 100% need to register.

This move, Sony claims, is to “protect players from griefing” among other ‘benefits’—and was only ever delayed thanks to the state of Helldivers 2’s servers at launch. Warner Bros. Discovery says sales of the superhero looter-shooter Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League did not meet the company’s expectations, a shortfall that’s put the company’s game division on track for a “tough” first quarter in its 2024 fiscal year.

“We are lapping the release of Hogwarts Legacy in February last year, which saw the largest portion of its very positive financial impact in the first quarter,” Warner Bros. Discover chief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels said during the company’s earnings call (via Seeking Alpha). 

“This year, Suicide Squad, one of our key videogame releases in 2024, has fallen short of our expectations since its release earlier in the quarter, setting our games business up for a tough year-over-year comp in Q1.”

Warner hasn’t released sales figures for Suicide Squad, but the game hasn’t performed especially well on Steam.
